About Gordon Ramsay
I’m Gordon Ramsay. Born in Scotland and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon, England, I initially dreamed of becoming a professional footballer. But when an injury cut that dream short, I switched gears and threw myself into the world of cooking. After studying hotel management, I had the privilege of training with some of the best chefs in the world, like Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White in London, and Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon in France.
In 1993, I became head chef at Aubergine in London, where we earned two Michelin stars in just three years. At 35, I took the leap to open my first restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, which quickly earned three Michelin stars—a prestigious honor I’m proud to say we still hold today. This makes us London’s longest-running three-star restaurant, and one of only four in the UK. My other London restaurant, Pétrus, also holds a Michelin star, and I’ve got a few more scattered across the globe, including two stars at Le Pressoir d’Argent in Bordeaux and one at Gordon Ramsay au Trianon in Versailles.
Today, with 7 Michelin stars and a portfolio of successful restaurants worldwide—from Las Vegas to Singapore—I’ve had the opportunity to bring my culinary vision to life on an international scale. In the UK alone, you’ll find Gordon Ramsay Restaurants in cities like London, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Liverpool, featuring brands like Lucky Cat, Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill, Bread Street Kitchen, and Street Burger.
Beyond the kitchen, you might have seen me on TV. Shows like HELL’S KITCHEN, MASTERCHEF, and 24 HOURS TO HELL & BACK have aired in more than 200 territories worldwide. In 2016, I even launched Studio Ramsay, my own production company, to create shows and formats for both the UK and the US.
But my life isn’t just about food and television. I’ve also penned a number of best-selling books, including my autobiography, Roasting in Hell’s Kitchen. I’ve partnered with WWRD to bring quality home and lifestyle products to market, and with HEXCLAD to offer high-performance cookware. In 2006, I was honored with an OBE from Queen Elizabeth II for my contributions to the industry.
My wife Tana and I are also deeply committed to giving back. That’s why we started the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation in 2014, partnering with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity to help some of the sickest children have the best chance at life.
These days, I split my time between Los Angeles and South London, where I live with Tana and our six kids, along with our dogs, cats, and tortoise. Life’s busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Now, let’s get back to cooking—and making it count.
